#516612405 1986 928 S Auto with 58K miles NO SALE - NO BIDS |
$12,000 minimum, Opened Dec-02 Closes Dec-07 |
Ooops! I missed this one when it came back on eBay on Dec 2. No wonder, as the seller has it misclassified so it doesn't show in eBay's database of 928s here (Note: He has fixed this as of 12/04). I should write this guy and let him know (Note: I did on 12/04). The car looks nice, but is unlikely to get any bids due to this error. It didn't the first time through 2 weeks ago. The car has full leather, very low miles, chrome rims and should draw $14K on eBay in my estimation, which could be a nice deal. | $0 | $0 | $0 | $0 CLOSED |

$15,000 minimum, Opened Dec-03 Closes Dec-10 |
Assuming this car has been maintained and not messed with, I'm interested. Have a feeling this seller is fishing for big bucks, though. This car looks nice, with molding delete, lumbar seat, nice paint and interior combination, polished rims. A nice 82K 88 5 speed should bring about...$17.5K | $15,000 | $15,000 | $15,100 | $15,300 | $15,400 | $15,400 | $16,600 CLOSED |

Looks nice. Seller admits faded hood and roof paint. At 110K, I'd be interested in seeing the interior condition - more photos please. He quotes value between $13.7 (poor) and $20.9K (mint). My guess is that he wants $15.5-$15.9K, and he won't get it. An 89 over 100K miles rarely draws over $14K. Let's see what happens. | $10,769.69 | $11,100 | $13,000 (reserve met) |

#516752869 1993 928 GTS Manual with 20K miles! NO SALE |

Yowza! The Holy Grail or close to it.. Cars like this don't show up on eBay often. I haven't seen one before. Usually the local market snaps them up, so this is a bit odd. Makes you wonder what the story is. An Oregon car being sold in California on eBay by a pinball machine reseller with somewhat spotty feedback, including somewhat snotty remarks. The molding delete makes the car look "unusual." I know people love the clean lines, but it just doesn't look like 95% of 928s you see, so it makes the sides look "different", especially with the very murky afternoon shots. I don't know what to make of this car. I would suppose it is real and should bring lots of high dollar bids. Let's see if it gets to reserve. This certainly livens up an almost dead eBay 928 week. | $34,200 | $34,200 | $34,200 | $35,101 | $35,101 | $35,101 CLOSED |

Whaaaat?? I can't add much to this description, and I quote:
"This car was used as a demo-car for a car stero (sic) store. IT has a hi-tech stero (sic), complete with CD player. Also has a built in customized k40 radar detector, and hi-tech alarm. The car has been kept inside for the past ten yearsm (sic) and just recently taken out this summer. It is in need of a clutch fan, which is the only modification needed. Send all questions to Pbar1@hotmail.com." Questions? Who has any questions? Seems clear to me. This obviously was one of the Porsche design studio prototypes that was smuggled out of Germany and secreted away in a small New Jersey "stero" store where it was ravaged teenage mutants with soldering irons and lamp cord. Amazing that after all these years it has reappeared. However, without a clutch fan the car is essentially worthless, as this fan never made it into production cars, and the last known clutch fan fabricator went out of business over 10 years ago. As Tom Cruise said, "Porsche clutch fan; there is no substitute." The saving grace here is that the seller will deliver the car C.O.D. ==== |

Owner has seriously upgraded to a 90 GT model. He even shows it in the shots, which makes the 85 look a bit dingy. Not a good marketing strategy, but he is getting some bids. At least it shows he is an "enthusiast" owner, and together with some notes about recent maintenance, makes it seem like he took care of the old buggy. | $4,050 (reserve met) |

Dealer. Annoying text color cycling HTML trick. Lots of pics. According to CarFax,10k miles in last 5 years; 1K miles in last year. Pic of 60 K service stamp in 1995, but no mention of timing belt. At least with dealer service stamp, you should be able to track down whether it was done. Even if done, 6 year interval means getting close to belt replacement time anyway. Silver outside; strange rusty red inside. Nose wrinkled (accident). | $11,200 CLOSED |

This is the third time through for 928 fanatic, Matt Preslaski's 87 S4. The first time through, it failed to meet reserve with a final bid of $14,999 after 34 bids. The re-list, with a $14,900 minimum attracted ZERO bids. Look at his description of the car on his website! Whoa! This car has been gone through nicely. Check his work records.
