This car sold on Jan-23.  Guess the deal fell through.  Here's what I said the first time.

A Mephisto Motors car.  These guys bother me...they had a Glocker Porsche that they did not reveal to be a copy (even though anyone should know).  Actually this car does look nice.  Says no dash cracks, but a cover obscures that area.

Salvage rebuild.  Says no damage theft recovery - then why was it issued a rebuild.  Possibly he means it was a strip with no bent parts.  Mentions tranny problem, fender dent.  One exterior pic.  No comments on interior condition.  Buy only after careful questioning, but that's true for any car. - - - - $2,700 $3,100 $3,251

Nice looking 78 with S4-look and newish wheels (deal includes original phone dials).  Says seats are "Ricaro" (hee, hee Recarro) but they appear to be S/S4 Porsche. "Rust"/black interior looks OK to me.  Speedo out.  Other minor problems noted.  This may be a nice car, if you get a little more information/pics of motor.  Owner is a newbie and feels in over his head. - - - - $2,125 $3,950 $4,601

Item #549397578
1994 928 GTS Auto with 17K miles
$9,999 minimum,
Opened Jan-25
Closes Feb-04
Clean looking low mile GTS from famous owner (big deal).  Carfax shows recent accident not mentioned in ad.  Mileage report error in CarFax is probably not meaningful.

Reply on accident is that it was a rear quarter which was replaced.  The reply tried to seriously downplay the accident.  I'm wondering about the paint match with the black metallic color.  Metallics are tough due to the way the metal flakes orient differently from one spray job to the next.

Back again so soon? Here's what I said the first time (forgot to mention I can't stand the gold BBS wheels):

Looks OK.  Says all leather interior - not true.  Look at seat hinge covers - they should match the seat if all leather.  Doubt console and dash is leather too.

A family car showing its age.  Some body damage, some of which was repaired.  A re-spray (red over black) that has started to fail.  Looks hit in rear (bumper wrinkled).  Owner has done a fair amount of work, but cosmetically it needs more work.  - - $0 $0 $0 $0 $0

Weissach Edition with Cup wheel update.  I'd like to have this one!  Clean and new looking -characteristic of San Diego cars.  Look at that paint - Porsche paint is amazing!  Few 20 year old cars would have paint even close to this nice. No mention is made of the luggage or gold tone wheels that came with this model.  There is a little confusion about the S designation.  S cars did not hit the US until 83, but information about the Weissach Edition is not readily available.  So, my guess is that this is a 220HP US non-S. - - $0 $0 $10,500

At least the second time through.  Did not meet reserve the last time.  Here's what I said the first time:

Dealer. Early 86. Calls it an S4 by mistake.  Mileage disparity  in ad.  Anyone for blue?  The same dealer, under a different eBay identity, has the 86 manual for sale below.  You gotta love stuff  like "90,600 carfull (sic) miles)."

Dan Schmit running it through again.  Here's what I said the first time...

Dealer Dan Schmitt is usually too optimistic in his reserve price, although he claims "low reserve" this time. Looks OK, but the engine looks a bit messed with.  Missing bottle cap, intake runners look like they were sprayed with aluminum paint.

Initially this sounds like a "no longer want it," needing a minor fix, but the honest description and pics show the car may be a bit more needy than that.  It's sad, as the seller sounds like a real enthusiast with a garage full of spares for the car, but he's got a new one on the way and isn't willing to get the S4 running. $5,100 $5,501 $5,700 $5,700 $5,800 $6,200 $6,799.03

Uh, add up the numbers.  This guys says the car was real nice when he got it.  He spent over $15K getting it ready to sell.  I'm not sure what he started with, but most of it isn't there anymore.  Very strange.  Good luck recouping the investment.
