27K mile 83 that *MIGHT* be real went for $14.8K! It got the most last
minute action I have seen in a while, jumping almost $3K in the last few hours.
Nice, low mile 89 GT was no sale at $25.1K. Several other very low mile
cars sold this week.
Under each date for each item, the first row shows the bid amounts at the end of that day, while the second row is the total number of bids at that point..

One I missed that is not in eBay Motors..."Perfect" except
for a few paint chips, seat tear and dash cracks, timing belt overdue.
Upgraded stereo, extra alarms. Repair to fender with "baked
on" paint. Hmmm....this car has been here before. The
"baked on" paint thing triggered my recollection. Here's
what I said the first time:
Another misclassified car I just found. Needs a T-belt NOW, has usual wear and tear. Also, is a salvage title, but repaired with "baked on" paint. Hmmmm... |

As Joe from Kel's Auto on Hwy 175 says, it needs some work. Joe says the rear seats need to be recovered. I think he means recovered from a theft as they appear to be missing. Cars like this kinda bother me. It appears to have been neglected if not abandoned for years. Don't even ask for the service records. Purported to be 2 owner original mileage. Interior looks good. Engine has plenty of Armor-All on it and grime along fender seam. Front spoiler is painted and seems to have a honker of a curb crack on the front driver side. Car looks OK, but something tells me this is a re-spray. Can't put my finger on it. Dan seems to have wised up to the fact that his non-descript 81 really was a
hotrod Euro S. He pulled the previous ad earlier today and popped this
one up. The bidding has taken off much faster.
Dan mentions no faults and says interior is original. The interior shows no obvious faults. Many of the pics are too dark to see details. The engine compartment looks grimy but could just be a gloomy pic. |

Black with lobster red inside. I do like this interior color a lot. I don't care for Mephisto Motors, but maybe I'll get over that prejudice. They have had a couple of nice cars recently. Their ads have good pictures, but they do not disclose critical things in their ads, in my experience. The seats on this car have contrasting piping, but this is missing from the driver seat. Console near dash and dash has some wrinkles, and the climate control temperature knob is missing. Otherwise clean, including engine compartment. Polished flats but centers are not polished. Now, these are not critical things that require disclosure. That happened in an ad for an unrelated car that was an unrevealed replica. | $0 | $5,500 | $6,100 | $6,100 | $6,100 | $7,500 (CLOSED) |

Back again for third time. Looks OK. Did well in first auction. Wonder
why deal fell through. In the case of a re-listing like this, I
advise anyone interested in bidding to contact the winning bidder in the
previous listing and ask why the deal fell through. You can find the winning
by clicking on the item number to the left for the Jan-15 closing.
Here's what I said the first time. Can't see any problems. Looks like it could be all leather interior. RMB installed? |

Appears to be another unannounced Euro car (no VIN supplied) from
sidemarkers. Has S trim (padded steering wheel, spoilers).
Mentions German gauges. Mentions interior needs work. Note
console wrinkle.. Looks like velour/leather seats. says
"for parts or restoration", but it doesn't look that bad.
Update: VIN is 92A0820024. According to another 928 fan the VIN for these early 928s can be decoded as follows: 1980 VIN digit 6: |

Dan Schmitt again, but let's forget about Dan this time. This 81 has
S spoilers, padded steering wheel and checkered interior. Could this
be a Euro "S" or Competition model? It has Euro sidemarkers,
too. I'll ask for the VIN. Dan mentions no faults and says
interior is original. The interior shows no obvious faults. Many
of the pics are too dark to see details. The engine compartment looks
grimy.
Ooops! I missed the VIN, which includes ZZZ, so this is a Euro car. The question is whether it is an S with 300 HP or a non-S with 229. It looks like an S, but those could have been add-ons. Update: Another 928 fan decoded the VIN and this is a S model Euro car. |

Buying house. Re-spray 4 years ago, broken A/C. Some interior wear and dash cracks. No mention of maintenance history. No pics. Try again. Previous ad had no pics - no bids. This one, not on
eBay Motors (there's a novel tactic), has some pics, and they are
revealing. Claims of a flawless car in previous ads have
evaporated. Now he admits a few minor flaws. The console is
bowed and has a brace screwed on. What I don't get is that he
spent $15K fixing up what he says was a nice car, and he doesn't fix these
things. The ads make no sense to me. Apparently no one else bought the
story the first time either.
Here's what I said the last time. Uh, add up the numbers. This guys says the car was real nice when he got it. He spent over $15K getting it ready to sell. I'm not sure what he started with, but most of it isn't there anymore. Very strange. Good luck recouping the investment. |

Here's what I said the last time. Back again. Humph. Doesn't do anything for me. I'll bet we see this one again. My theory - it's not a good car. People bid on it, then find out it has some hidden problems and back out. |

A retread. More pics this time, clearly showing dash crack I thought I
saw the first time. That probably killed the deal as it was not
mentioned. Console is missing shifter center roll panel. Wonder about
other unseen faults. Good luck.
Here's what I said the first time. Mentions no faults. Looks pretty decent. Possible dash crack at right edge of glovebox appears to be a photo glitch. Little feedback, but has sold 2 vehicles recently. |

Ew, things are picking up on eBay! Nice car, but if you visit the
seller's website (linked in the ad) you learn he is expecting a premium
price: $32K. Why run an auction? I doubt he will get much action
after people see that. At most he might expect $25K, IMHO. It's
funny, too when you read the "flaws" he describes on his webpage.
Several are very easy to fix according to the seller - so why didn't he fix
them?
Update: Seller has revised his webapge to eliminate the $32K price and add some juicy tidbits such as Dyno data (a strong 290+). |
