Get out your checkbooks.  Actually, it just looks "OK" from limited pictures.  Interesting direct underside shot.  If you blow it up, you can see a fair amount of corrosion from Toronto winters.  No interior views.  Could be due to low resolution shot, but engine compartment looks winter worn as well.  GTSs may be rare, but I have a  hunch this one may not even get any bids. - - - - - - $0

Back for the third time.  This is the second time he has run this car through eBay in the horribly helpful "Everything Else: General" category.  Here's what I said the last time through.

Try again.  Previous ad had no pics - no bids.  This one, not on eBay Motors (there's a novel tactic), has some pics, and they are revealing.  Claims of a flawless car in previous ads have evaporated.  Now he admits a few minor flaws.  The console is bowed and has a brace screwed on.   What I don't get is that he spent $15K fixing up what he says was a nice car, and he doesn't fix these things.  The ads make no sense to me. Apparently no one else bought the story the first time either.

Here's what I said the first time.

Uh, add up the numbers.  This guys says the car was real nice when he got it.  He spent over $15K getting it ready to sell.  I'm not sure what he started with, but most of it isn't there anymore.  Very strange.  Good luck recouping the investment.

Early 86 that looks nice outside and decent inside.  Carfax is OK.  Dealer notes t-belt and pump done recently.  Dealer indicates low price.  Carfax does show that the car has not been driven a single mile since it was bought by the dealer in November.

#Comment on bid 11:  Another example of a proxy bid jumping the price to reserve immediately.  Be careful with proxy bidding.  Bidder 11 has zero feedback (new to eBay) and I think learned a lesson today.  Anyway, we now know the reserve is $6,900 - VERY cheap for a good 86, if this is good.

It's so nice, she listed it twice.  Guess the seller figures this doubles her chances of selling it.  Yeah, selling it to two people at the same time!  That's illegal, but there's little chance this will sell to even one person.  It is a nice, attractive, low mile 90, but the seller is "asking" $26.9K.  Uh, sorry, but this one is DOA.  Kelly checks it out at $22.3K while NADA tops out at $23.6K - - - $0

Lots of pics.  Car looks good.  Nothing jumps out (oh, the driver seat looks properly worn - easy fix - and somebody cleaned off most of the intake manifold paint).  Carfax is clean.  Everything reads pretty well in the ad,  including of recent service information, until you get close to the end where they claim in bold red letters that the car has a retail value of over $18K. Er, uh, that's hard to swallow.  More like $10K.  Must be a typo, eh?  - - $6,200

Not much info in the ad.  The VIN (over 0999) would make this an "86.5" with S4 updates.  Carfax is clean except for 1 car accident in 97. Says it hit a culvert or a ditch.  Sounds like my recent off-road experience in the rain.  Bidders need to do some digging.  Could be nice, but there's no way to know from the ad. - - $0

I don't know what is going in Pittsburgh, but this fella has had a couple very low mile cars that look fine from the pics, such as Item #556243379.  Well, here's another he is selling.  No flaws noted.  Not a load of pics.  If real, should go about $18-19K.

Update:  There is an error in the VIN report on CarFax regarding mileage- an obvious decimal point error.  There is no odometer rollback.  The VIN is WP0JB0927KS860214

OK, so it might be the nicest 1980 around, and it is said to only have gone 19K miles and never been rained on, but $16.5K is stretching it a bit.  It DOES look nice.  When did the padded steering wheel come in?  I thought that was a later S feature.  Needs to add close-ups of all the pristine components and undercarriage, if the car is as he says, if he has any hope of getting $16.5K. $0 $0 $0 $0 $0 $0

*Closing comment.  My guess is that the seller got scared by the unenthusiastic bidding in his "no reserve" auction.  He did not cancel all the bids, so according to eBay rules he is supposed to sell to the highest bidder.  I doubt he will.  When you do a no reserve, you have to be prepared for this.

Back again. This car closed earlier in the week, but the buyer backed down after learning it had 1st gear grinding (likely synchros).  Just as well.  The original ad said the car was an 86, but the VIN proved it to be an 83 and the seller noted that, although he was a bit slow to make the amendment.  I was pretty hard on this car the first time through.  Here is what I said.

An 86 5-speed no reserve should wake a few people up.  Looks too tattered for 75K miles - driven hard and put away wet is my guess.  Paint flaking due to front bumper contact, hood edge dinged, seat tears mentioned.  No interior or engine shots.  Probably lots to see there.  Check out Junior at the helm in one shot.  Looks like he probably shifts without using the clutch. (Funny that I should say this considering the car later proved to have 1st gear synchro problems.)  Careful questioning essential in this case.

Update:  An observant 928 fan  pointed out the VIN cannot be 86.  It is fuzzy, but it checks out to be: WP0JB0928DS860306

The "D" in the middle specifies an 1983.  86 is "G".  I sent Junior a note.  Also, the antenna is a giveaway as 86 had it embedded in the windshield.

Canadian car.  Honest ad.  Looks very nice to me.  Appears to be all-leather interior.  Mentions front end repair and repaint.  Nose does look slightly misaligned, and it looks as if the fender moldings has been painted, but I think that is a photo artifact.

**Bid comment:  Bid 13 jumped the high bid from $8,752 to the reserve, $9,999.  This is what happens when you submit a proxy bid that has a limit at or above the reserve - it immediately jumps the bid to the reserve.  Surprises a lot of bidders.  Remember - do not submit a proxy bid until very late in the auction.

This ad reads great until you get to the part where the dealer says he has over $17K invested in this car.  Then he goes on to say the reserve is less than he has invested.  I appreciate honesty, and most of the ad reads as if it is truthful, but here is a dealer that says he is planning on losing money. Uhuh, sure. Anyway, $17K is a bit steep for an 87 that is not stone showroom.  Fair value is about $14-15K. Kelly gives $16.4K retail, but I wouldn't pay that much unless perfect. It looks like it may be a very nice car, but not worth what the dealer probably wants.  Let's see. $14,600

Back again, but suddenly the car gained 36K miles over the previous listing.  Not bad, considering it is a parts car.  His spelling is getting even worse, however.  He has pics here under "Porsche".  I recommend  you don't look at them.  A few of them are gut wrenching. However, under "Cars For Sale"  he has some shots of a more seriously abused BMW.

My comments from the first trip through eBay.

Sometimes there's nothing to add to the seller's description:

"Complete Car, Texas Car, with bill of sale. Has run fuel injection/pump wiring needs replaced. interior needs redone, horrable repaint!"

Back again for the third time.  Here are excerpts from my previous comments.

Dealer. Early 86. Calls it an S4 by mistake.  Mileage disparity  in ad.  Anyone for blue?  You gotta love stuff  like "90,600 carfull (sic) miles."
